Tell Us About Your Favorite Purveyors8 Comments (See All) 1.8/24/08 at 4:44 p.m. ETOne of my favorite artisans is Gib Coalwell of Loveland, Colorado. He makes one-of-a-kind wooden boxes. His exquisite craftsmanship is augmented by his inventory of unusual woods, the individual engravings that each box receives, and the variety of shapes and sizes possible. Each box is produced for a specific occasion or purpose, such a jewelry box, sales promotion, or award presentation. These very affordable boxes are shipped all over the world. His website is OrionsWoods.com. 2.8/14/08 at 10:00 a.m. ETI love Green Mountain Spinnery in Putney VT (www.spinnery.com). They are worker owned and spin their yarns from US grown fibers (alpaca, mohair, wool and organic cotton). And, they make every effort to purchase directly from individual growers. Their 100% wool yarns are spun entirely from New England fleece. And, it's right across the street from the Putney Inn so make a weekend of it - especially nice in October. 3.8/05/08 at 1:29 a.m. ETI just discovered a wonderful site for finding goods and food made in your area. The site is called Locallectual (www.locallectual.com) and you can find goods by searching by category, by country, by state, by city, or even by mileage radius of a zipcode. It's a great source for those who want to buy local! |
